PRODUCTION PROCESS

Hand pressing with the aid of plaster moulds”.
The clay is tightly hand pressed in the plaster mould so as to acquire a true imprint.
After a few hours the item starts to detach from the mould and is removed.
The item undergoes a first drying step and is then finished by hand. Subsequently, the object is left to dry naturally for a period of time that varies depending on dimension and climatic conditions.
This long process ends with baking at a very high temperature, (i.e. 990° C). It is here in the kiln that our terracotta acquires its characteristic frost-proofness in addition to its unmistakable hue.

The Galestro clay surpassed the “Frost resistant” test expected from UNI EN 202 rule on 25
cycles with temperatures between + 59°F and -5° F.
